Freshers often prepare hard for technical rounds and then lose offers in the HR round. The questions are predictable, so the answers can be prepared — not memorised word for word, but structured so you speak clearly and confidently.
1. "Tell me about yourself"
Use present → past → future. Who you are now, what you've done that's relevant, and why this role is the next step. Keep it to 60–90 seconds.
Sample: "I'm a 2026 B.Tech graduate in computer science focused on full stack development. During college I built three web apps — the main one is an expense tracker in React and Node used by 50+ students. I enjoyed building features end to end, which is why this developer role appeals to me: I'd like to keep doing that on a real product team."
2. "What are your strengths and weaknesses?"
Choose a strength that matters for the role and back it with an example. For weaknesses, pick something real but not disqualifying, and explain what you're doing to improve it.
Weakness sample: "I used to take on too much myself in group projects. I've started breaking work into tasks with deadlines early and sharing them with the team, which made our final-year project much smoother."
3. "Why should we hire you?"
Connect two or three of the role's requirements to your evidence, and add one quality that makes you a good teammate. Be specific rather than saying 'I'm hardworking'.
4. "Why do you want to work here?"
Generic answers ('good brand, growth') are forgettable. Mention something specific about the company's product, customers or technology, and why it matches your interests.
5. "What are your salary expectations?"
Research the typical range for the role and city. As a fresher it's reasonable to say you're open to the company's standard range for the role, while knowing your minimum.
6. Other common questions to prepare
- Where do you see yourself in three years?
- Are you willing to relocate or work shifts?
- Tell me about a challenge you faced and how you handled it.
- Why did you choose your degree?
- Do you have any questions for us? (Always have two ready.)
Prepare for every interview with role details and a checklist — and get feedback where available.
